Only HyperStore offers 100% native S3 compatibility. It even reports the same error codes as AWS. Existing HTTP S3 applications are guaranteed to work, and developers can use the same SDK’s for building S3 apps.

Beelastic’s cloud object-based storage is built using the Cloudian HyperStore platform, due to its strong enterprise reputation, stability, and its tight integration with Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3).

HyperStore provides storage users with Self Service features that allow group administrators to create users, assign permissions, control buckets, and object permissions. Advanced role-based-access is available through the Cloudian IAM service, allowing administrators to set permissions using JSON security policies.

What is Object Based Storage?

Object-based storage is a file system that manages and addresses data using individual units, called objects. Each object consists of a globally unique identifier (UUID), its metadata, and the data itself. Objects are stored inside a single flat address space, referred to as a bucket. The object’s metadata is used to store access-control permissions and other administrative policies for each object. Object-based storage is accessed and manipulated using a HTTP/s REST API which supports PUT, POST, GET, DELETE, and HEAD requests.

    Object storage is not limited by traditional file system hierarchy. There is no limit to the amount of data that can be stored. It can easily grow to petabyte scale.

    Object storage is far less expensive than trying to expand and distribute traditional file storage systems.

    The separation of metadata from the file, allows clients to work only with the metadata for managing and querying data. You only have to load the file when you really need it.
